Brand Atlas
Oriorwaith J. Sarnowski (the name draws on Welsh — "Oriorwaith" roughly evokes watchmaking/hourly craft) is built around genuine scarcity: as a small company, watches are sold in small batches, limited to a certain period of time. The brand leans into Welsh identity and language directly, with model names in Welsh (Y Derwydd — "The Druid," Y Sgowt, Derwydd Y Nos) and hand-embellished detailing as a signature offering.
Oriorwaith J. Sarnowski is a small, family-run Welsh watchmaking business founded in 2024 by a secondary school maths teacher turned watchmaker. Launched via Kickstarter with the Y Derwydd ("The Druid") model, the brand has since expanded into the Derwydd Y Nos, Y Derwydd Noeth, and Y Sgowt lines, plus a hand-embellished watches offering. Watches are produced in limited, time-boxed batches rather than continuous production.

Founded by J. Sarnowski, who teaches maths to secondary school students in Wales alongside making watches. Watches had been part of his life since his early teens — collecting, researching, and eventually restoring and building watches for his own collection — and it had always been a dream to own a watch company. The birth of his daughter in 2022 was the inspiration to finally create his own watch, leading to the launch of Oriorwaith J. Sarnowski and its first release, Y Derwydd, funded via Kickstarter in March 2024.
