The Ascari chronograph collection is an homage to the legendary racer, Alberto Ascari, who was Ferrari's sole Italian champion at the GP World Championship. Enzo Ferrari described Alberto Ascari as being 'virtually impossible to overtake' when leading. In the inaugural World Championship campaign, Ascari gave Ferrari its first World Championship podium with second place in the 1950 Monaco Grand Prix. After a dominant victory at the 1952 Belgian Grand Prix – a race where he finished two minutes ahead of the field – Alberto Ascari won the remaining five races on his way to the 1952 World Championship.
